Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 26, 2026

Silverback (“the app”, “we”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what data is processed when you use the app, and how. In short: your screen content stays on your phone;when product analytics is enabled, limited pseudonymous technical data is processed to improve the app.

Accessibility service and screen content

Silverback uses the Android Accessibility Service to understand when you are scrolling short videos in supported apps (currently Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and TikTok). The service processes the foreground app package, whether a supported short-video surface is visible, and scrolling or index movement only on your device, in real time; the result is converted into a scroll count and can trigger the on-screen counter and gorilla overlay.Screen content is never stored, never sent to a server, never shared with third parties, and never sold.

Product analytics and technical diagnostics (PostHog, EU)

When product analytics is configured for the app build, PostHog processes data in the EU. It receives a pseudonymous app/device identifier, app version and build type, locale, device model, operating-system version, app screen and lifecycle events, deep-link events, and technical error reports. A technical error report can include an exception type, a limited error message and a short application stack trace.

Accessibility-derived diagnostics sent to PostHog are limited to the supported app package, aggregate scroll count, session duration, count strategy, and detection or overlay/permission error signals (including technical view-class names where needed to diagnose a detector issue). We also record product milestones, such as onboarding answers and completed steps, the type of a permission grant, the first overlay, goal/streak/badge milestones, daily-summary settings and delivery, and paywall, plan-selection, purchase-result, and restore-result events. We use this data to improve counting reliability, understand whether setup and features work, and investigate errors. We do not send an event for each scroll. This data is never used for advertising or sold.

Data kept on your device

Raw accessibility events, your scroll history and counts, daily goal, streaks, badges, settings, and locally selected app icon are kept on your device. This data is removed from your device when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.

Invite codes (Google Play Install Referrer)

If you install the app from a friend’s invite link (silverback-app.vercel.app/i/<code>), only the invite code (code=<CODE>) is passed to the app via the Google Play Install Referrer, so you join the right Battle.

Battle and Google sign-in

Google sign-in is optional and is used for Battle. When you sign in and use Battle, Supabase processes your account ID, display name, profile-photo URL, daily aggregate scroll score, earned badge IDs, invite code, and friendship/request state. Your score and profile data are visible only as required for you and accepted Battle friends to compare scores. If you sign in, PostHog may also associate its pseudonymous analytics record with your Supabase account ID and display name. The rest of the app works without an account.

Feedback and purchases

Feedback requires sign-in. If you submit it, Supabase receives the selected category or categories, the message you write, app version, platform, and your Battle account ID. If you subscribe, purchase the lifetime option, or restore a purchase, RevenueCat and Google Play process the purchase status and identifiers needed to provide your Pro entitlement. We do not receive payment-card details.

What we do not collect

Third-party services

We share data only with processors needed for the features described: PostHog (analytics and diagnostics), Supabase (Battle and feedback), Google (sign-in, Install Referrer, and Play services), RevenueCat (subscription management), and Google Play (purchases). See theGoogle Privacy Policy for Google’s own data practices.

Retention and deletion

Local data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage. You can sign out of Battle at any time. To permanently delete your Battle account, use Settings → Account → Delete account in the app. This deletes the Battle account, profile, daily scores, badge records, and friendship/request records, and signs you out. Feedback submissions remain in Supabase with their account association removed. Account deletion does not remove local data; uninstall the app or clear its storage to remove that data.

Children

Silverback is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
